Russian Travel Camera

Camera on a Arriflex tripod

The FKD camera is the only wooden camera from the USSR. The production of this replica of a German wooden camera from the 19th century began before the Second World War and continued until the mid-1980s.
It was produced in various factories, most of which were not specialized in cameras but were furniture manufacturers.

Folded travel camera

It is a travel camera with bellows, which is completely foldable and collapsible. The lens is an Industar-51 with the exposure value f4.5/210 (manufacturer KOMZ in Kazan, Russia). There is no shutter release, exposure is done by removing the lens cover.

Nameplate

The camera design has not changed over the decades, only material and workmanship have varied. My FKD camera comes from Kharkov, today's Ukraine, and was produced in 1986.

FKD
Abbreviation for russian travel camera: foto kamera dorozhnaya
- in contrast to the studio camera FKP: foto kamera pavilyonnaya.
